We are looking for a PhD student with experience or interest in the maritime domain. The focus of this research group is around the role that design plays in the development of maintenance of resilience in high-risk work environments both ship and shore-based. Our research is strongly applied, so the phd project will be linked with one or more of our funded research projects, but will generally make a contribution in "shaping the task for the person". Ongoing projects include: port operations - technological redesign to support pilot, VTS and tug cooperation, human performance measurement, human factors in naval architecture, decision-making in emergency management, safety systems and organisational culture, and strategic innovation in high-risk environments. Your background may be in psychology, ICT or engineering and your work experience might include previous time in the maritime industry in some capacity.
